Nobody does Halloween better than celebrities. Scrolling through Instagram, you may be tired of seeing low-effort outfits that seem thrown together 20 minutes before going out for the night. Let’s take a look at 10 insane celebrity Halloween costumes because, unlike us college students, they actually have the budget to drop thousands of dollars on crazy costumes.

10. Hayley Kiyoko as 067 from Squid Game

It seems like singer-songwriter Hayley Kiyoko has jumped on the Squid Game bandwagon these past few weeks. This incredibly popular Netflix series originating from South Korea has sparked inspiration for many Halloween costumes this year, mainly due to the simplicity of the characters’ jumpsuits. As much as Kiyoko’s haircut totally matches that of Squid Game’s HoYeon Jung, this outfit was a bit lackluster.

9. Janelle Monae as The Grinch

Is it Christmas time already? As impressive as the prosthetic makeup is on this holiday costume, Janelle Monae’s choice to jump right into the Christmas season interferes with the Halloween spirit a bit. But you have to admit, the side-burn and eyebrow action here is crazy good.

8. Lizzo as Baby Yoda

From her stage antics to her hilarious personality on social media, Lizzo is always ready to crack a joke. Dressed as Baby Yoda from the Star Wars universe, Lizzo subverted typical expectations and went with an unconventional costume choice for a superstar. Although the makeup isn’t great, and her wardrobe is basically just a tan Snuggie, you can’t deny that Lizzo knows how to have a laugh.

7. Harry Styles as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz

Once again, the beloved Harry Styles is breaking arbitrary fashion gender rules and rocking it in a dress. The gingham dress, matching bow, ruby red shoes and heavy blush perfectly embody this sweet southern belle. However, the fit is a bit simple, but maybe we just let him get away with it because he is the Harry Styles.

6. Cardi B as Morticia Addams

Although a tad unoriginal, Cardi B’s Morticia Adams costume still is worth some praise. The makeup and hair are spot on and the wardrobe gives a bit of a surprise. It’s not an exact replica of the wicked and elegant character shown in The Addams Family, which is a refreshing take on the classic costume.

5. Kendall Jenner as The Corpse Bride

Speaking of celebs adding their own sense of style to a classic costume, Kendall Jenner is dressed to impress in her take on Tim Burton’s The Corpse Bride. Kendall stuns with bold white platforms, a show-stopping veil and a unique twist on the typical outfit. Even though she’s dressed for Halloween, you can’t help but be reminded of just how stylish Kendall is!

4. Megan Thee Stallion as Cruella De Vil

After Disney’s release of Cruella this past summer, this costume idea has been on a lot of people’s minds. That’s why if someone is going to try such a common costume this year, they are really gonna need to pull out all the stops. With a stunning dalmatian printed corset bodice, knee-high boots, and dramatic hairstyle, it’s safe to say Megan Thee Stallion is one of the best Cruella’s around.

3. Lil Nas X as the Basketball Guy from Ned’s Declassified

For those of us who remember coming home from middle school and immediately turning on Nickelodeon to watch Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide will certainly recognize Lil Nas X’s costume this year. Complete with the gold chains, flowing blonde wig, and school mascot sweatshirt patch, Lil Nas X nailed every aspect of this nostalgic character.

2. Ariana Grande as Miss Creature from the Black Lagoon

Only Ariana could make a sea monster look absolutely fabulous. The Lagoon Creature special effects makeup on this pop sweetheart’s costume is incredibly impressive, contrasting nicely with the elegant hair and wardrobe of a refined lady. Points for creativity!

1. Chloe Bailey as Lola from Shark Tale

The sparkling hair! The fierce makeup! The glitter! Chloe Bailey hit every mark in becoming the sexy and lustrous character of the diva fish Lola from Shark Tale. This is a perfect example of a celeb going all out for Halloween and amping up the glitz and glam of this spooky season for everyone else in the game.

It’s safe to say that celebs killed it this year for Halloween. Even the “worst” costumes on this list were fabulous. Hopefully, you had a very happy Halloween, and are already finding inspiration for next year!
