It’s here- senior year! Where did all the time go? If you are like me, you have been reflecting on your past four years of college. The good and the bad… including outfit choices.
Most of us scroll through our camera rolls and think to ourselves, “Why did I ever wear that?” But not to worry! We have all had our fair share of interesting outfits in college. That is just a part of the experience. From entering as wide-eyed, unsure freshmen to confident and accomplished seniors: ready to take on post-grad life, we are in a season of change. And so are our closets! Here is how you can elevate your wardrobe heading into post-grad.
Keep Your Basics
Do not throw away all your basic tops yet (but let’s be honest, we can probably ditch some of them). Keep staple pieces that can be easily elevated or reworn with a variety of outfits. Throwing a basic top under a blazer or sweater is a classic and easy option to step up any outfit.
Quality Over Quantity
In college, it can be hard to always invest in quality pieces of clothing. Sometimes I find myself stuck in the mindset of why buy one nice article of clothing when I could get 3 for less? However, when it comes to investing in quality pieces, these are the ones that will stay with you and provide the most use in the long-run.
Build a Capsule Wardrobe
Capsule wardrobes are a fantastic way to collect multiple pieces of clothing you truly love without overconsuming. I have fallen victim one too many times of buying something just to wear it once. Crafting a capsule wardrobe with versatile pieces that transition from office or interview attire by day to dinner and drinks with friends at night is key.
Find Your Statement
Just because college is coming to an end doesn’t mean your own personal flair on your style also has to! Once you have found your statement- whether that be through certain colors, patterns or accessories- embrace it and let it grow with you!
As we have evolved over the past four years, so have our closets. Now is the time to take everything you have learned in college and apply it to whatever your next journey may be. If you do not know what post-grad will look like for you, that is okay! I don’t either. But what I do know is that it is a time for all of us to take risks, discover new passions, explore new places and even have a possible change of style amidst it all.
