Hello all, I hope you’re enjoying the 62-80 degree weather range we’ve been having, because I for sure am not…
Not knowing whether I need to plan to wear pants for the frigid mornings or short sleeves for a sweaty afternoon, it just is too much to think about on top of worrying about what my hair is gonna look like.
But alas, here are the things helping me battle the first world problems of frizzy hair and not knowing whether to wear jeans or jorts.

Music - WTF does esoteric mean and why is spotify labeling my playlists as such?
“Esoteric” as defined by Dictonary.com means “understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest.” Thanks to Spotify and much of the internet, esoteric has been this season’s version of niche and the chase to be underground.
While I do think I have good taste sonically (and in many other areas), I am inclined to share the recent sounds energizing me on walks to class or whenever I need a good music video.
SONGS:
“Emo pop” by Trippie Redd
“Boo” by Toxe
“Autobahn” by Kim Petras
“Flashbacks” by Tinashe
It’s not often you’ll hear me asking to turn on Trippie Redd, but when the guy drops a full album sonically similar to “Dark Knight Dummo” and visuals for every track. How can I not be hooked!?
“Emo pop” was by far the stand out track on the album. Appeasing both my craving for a strong beat and that party girl aesthetic.
Similarly, “Autobahn” by Kim Petras is an electric pop-based record off her new deluxe album that gives very similar vibes. It has that essential alternative grit, and her signature high-energy production woven around a chorus that is hard to get out of your head. “I was walking down the Autobahn…”
Now arguably the most esoteric of my recent favorite sounds have been “Boo” by a Swedish electric-pop artist named Toxe, and “Flashbacks” by Tinashe.
Both of these tracks feel like must adds to any fall playlist. With beautiful nostalgic piano cords behind layered vocals that give you goosebumps or at the very least the need to reflect on every action you’ve ever done.
Fashion - How to navigate all the fashion weeks
September to October is one of the busiest times for the fashion industry. Over a period of six weeks, dozens of designers release collections in popular fashion hubs of the Western world.
Starting in New York (NYFW), and progressing to London (LFW), Milan (MFW) and finishing off in Paris (PFW). While there are two more additional weeks on the CFDA calendar, these weeks are largely considered the core four.
With hundreds of runway shows and presentations scheduled, it can be difficult to keep up. While I recommend always keeping up with your favorite brands, here are some people and accounts helping me keep up in the world of closets.

Food - Foods/snacks easing me into the fall season
From putting squash in macaroni, homemade fruit syrups, and to the beginning of soup season, there are a variety of new cravings coming to me, especially now that citrus and barbeque are no longer in season.
The beautiful thing about fall dishes is that they're made to be shared. The only downside is then having to buy sharable portion sizes. But if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll have a friend or two to split it with.
CRAVINGS/SAVED RECIPES:
Pumpkin short rib soup | Roti Brown
Soul food sushi | Nikki Jenkins
Bamba puffed peanuts with hazelnut | Trader Joe’s
Status update - stop the clock please, no way it’s almost midterms :(
So Fall break is already around the corner, and I feel like I’ve only just settled into my senior year. Well since time isn’t slowing down anytime soon, here’s a few documented moments I’ve been loving of Oxford and my friends.
From celebrating Thursday nights and BEAT on Saturday, to piercing our ears and playing die. The nice weather has made for a very packed social calendar. Cheers to the rest of the year!
