Mime

The perfect mime needs a black and white striped top, it can be long-sleeve, short-sleeve or even off the shoulder, a black bottom of some sort and black tights. To really lean into a classic mime, add a red beret and white gloves, and there you have it! Simple, put together and customizable to your own style—the best costume.

Witch

People often overlook the power of being a witch for Halloween, and how classic it can be. Think darker colors, whether that’s black, dark greens, dark reds, etc. There are no rules for how you can execute this costume. You can go the dress route and wear your favorite little black dress and tights, or you can opt for a corset and pair it with your favorite mini skirt or shorts and boots. The most important element you need to add to your outfit is a witch hat, which some people may have lying around from past costumes. There you have it, a witch costume with your own twist.

Slip Dress

After slip dresses gained their popularity over the past couple of years, everyone has one in their closet. Depending on what you are looking for and the style of the dress you have, you can execute a multitude of costumes. If you want a more elegant look, go the princess route; all you need to complete the outfit is a tiara and long gloves. If you are someone who grew up watching Tinkerbell, don’t be afraid to turn your slip dress into the perfect fairy costume! All you need to do is add some wings, whether they are from Amazon or Spirit Halloween, and you will be ready!

White Corset or Dress

All of us have a white dress we thought we had to wait until next summer to wear again, but here is the perfect time to wear it. There is so much versatility in a white dress and what you can create with it. You can choose to be an angel, just add wings and a halo and you have your outfit. This costume is done every year for a reason, and if you make it your own, it will stand out from the crowd. Adding in lace elements would also be perfect here. Another classic costume is a ghost, but an elevated version. Imagine a fashion-forward ghost, wear your favorite shear poncho and layer it over a mini or longer dress. A veil would also work well here, and for makeup, create a pale base and pair it with a smoky eye. A bride's costume would also work well with these pieces, especially the veil. Finally, any rendition of a bunny or polar bear makes a cute and cozy costume; all you need are the matching ears. My favorite version of this costume is the bunny Jellycat that was popularized on TikTok. The key to all of these costume ideas is to commit to them and truly make them your own.
