Halloween is a holiday of endless creativity and dressing up as your favorite character (or the cutest one you could turn into a costume). For UP Directors, it's no different. One of the best weekends in Oxford, Halloweekend, was full of scary and sexy costumes that we loved seeing around campus. Here’s what we wore:
This year for Halloween, I did a duo costume with my friend, Emma. Emma was a Peacock, and I was a flamingo. I basically already had everything in my closet, and I love wearing anything with a lot of layers and texture. You know what they say—birds of a feather!

Abby (right), my social media co-director, dressed up as Rowley from “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” Along with her was her roommate (left), as Greg and her boyfriend (middle), as Rodrick. A funny group costume is the way to go, and the wigs make this truly incredible.

Olivia, our director of photography, was a classic black cat this year for one costume—you can’t go wrong with some cute animal makeup and ears. For another costume, she and a friend were the twins from “The Shining.” Cute and scary at the same time!
Sylvia and Olivia, co-directors of event planning (and roommates), did a duo costume—they were the iconic white swan and black swan. They got every matching detail, down to the tutu, to perfection!

Director of hair and makeup, Scout, also did a duo costume—Jessie and Jane from “Breaking Bad.” The black wig with the iconic bangs pulled it all together—chef’s kiss! For another day, Scout did a group costume with her friends; they were different kinds of bugs!

Allison, one of the co-copy editors, did a duo costume with her friend, Sydney. Allison was Kuromi from “Sanrio,” and Sydney was her Melody! What a cute duo costume!

Co-copy editor, Kaitlin, was the famous Jenna Rink from the 2000s romantic comedy, “13 Going on 30.” From the dress to the hair, this one was not only accurate but adorable.

Blog editor & director, Taylor Morgan, was the infamous Penny Lane, with the coat and everything. The perfect recognizable but not overdone costume. She was also Cameron from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” with co-director of Business Development, Hayley Beardsley, who dressed as Ferris. Another costume that is not overdone, but everyone knows it!

They met up with other co-director of business development, Justin Dinh, while he was in his “Top Gun” costume! This one is another classic costume that’s a perfect Halloween character and has great costume potential—and the potential was executed here!

Communications director Genevieve did a duo costume with her friend, and they were the legendary Serena and Blair! With a simple white button-up and a tie or a headband (depending on if you're S or B) pulls the outfit together with the perfect miniskirt together, like the one Genevieve is wearing! Adorable!!

Fashion co-director, Paulina, dressed up as a Polly Pocket, something so well-known but rarely seen as a costume. Paulina had her own Polly Pocket shirt with a headband, sequin mini skirt and accessories!

Abby, who co-directs fashion, was Marie Antoinette! From the dress, to the choker, to the hair, everything screams Marie Antoinette! Even the accessories, like the fan, really make the outfit! Abby also ran into editor-in-chief, Charlotte, and they were both coincidentally Sue Sylvester, the iconic cheer coach/principal/terrorizer of the satire-comedy, “Glee.”

Our publisher, Elizabeth, dressed up with her roommates this year. For one costume, they were the characters from Candy Land, and Elizabeth was Mr. Mint! They also dressed up as prohibitioners, holding up comical signs that read “WE WANT BEER.” Finally, Elizabeth dressed up as Sleeping Beauty—the perfect costume for comfy & cute.

Charlotte, our editor in chief, did a perfectly timed “Wicked” costume! It was a duo costume with her sister. Charlotte dressed as Elphaba, wearing a black outfit with adorably necessary green tights to pull the look together. Her Glinda was decked out in all pink.

Finally, creative director Madeline did a group costume with her roommates, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With the perfect number of roommates for the costume, the four of them put on their different colored headbands and posed for a Polaroid picture. For another costume, Madeline sported the Superman logo under a white button-up. She added some glasses, and there, Clark Kent!
What were you for Halloween?
