Colors Of Spring

Spring is here—or almost! With spring comes warmer days ahead, brighter mornings and nights, and bright flowers blooming. Spring is also often associated with light pastel shades, from pink and yellow to blue and purple. These colors can act as a beacon of hope in getting closer to summer day by day.

While it is easy to wish spring away and dream of warm summer days, there are also many ways to embrace spring. First, embrace these colors! Whether it is by wearing new colors of the season or eating brighter foods, add a little spice to your life.

One fun way to embrace each month as it comes and goes is to pick a color—maybe red for February or orange for October—and incorporate it into as many aspects of life as possible. This can be as much as wearing that color shirt multiple times or as simple as adding accessories in that shade. This little trick doesn’t have to be limited to clothing; the color can be incorporated into nails or even what you’re eating.

March is strongly associated with bright green as it is the month of St. Patrick’s Day, so take this as a chance to incorporate more green into daily life. Get a matcha latte or add avocado to your next meal. Eat or drink your greens!

Bright green, or kelly green, while not a pastel, is a great color to start wearing to transition out of the dark wardrobe of winter. This shade complements so many skin and hair tones and surprisingly matches many colors, like pink for a preppy look or white for a more contrasting outfit.

Lighter colors associated with spring come from all of the flowers blooming around us. Light yellow, blue or even purple are all bright and fun ways to add more color after a cold and dreary winter. However, if wearing light colors isn’t an option, buy some flowers and add some color to your home! Spring is the season of tulips, daffodils, peonies and many more.

As the days get warmer, more fruits and vegetables come into season as well. Add color to meals with fresh strawberries or apricots.

However one chooses to celebrate this season, do it with color! Even if you incorporate a little pop of color in your outfit to class or in a cold smoothie, these are sure ways to improve one’s mood and make the time before summer more fun! While not every day out of every month gives us something to celebrate or enjoy, adding pops of color into our daily life makes every day a little brighter in my opinion, and makes the change of months more exciting!
