We all know and love Maddie Ziegler from her time on the hit reality show "Dance Moms." Ziegler’s career took off right away from a young age, helping her navigate a life in the spotlight. Millions of people tuned in each week to watch 8-year-old Ziegler and her team face the intensity and pressure of the dance world.
But what is Ziegler up to now? Though she remains a dancing sensation, she has widely extended her influence into the film, fashion and beauty industries.
Dance Moms launched numerous opportunities for Ziegler, including her collaboration with artist Sia. Sia is best known for her song Chandelier, but Ziegler is featured front and center as the visual inspiration for Sia’s brand. Sia considers Ziegler her artistic muse in each music video, which have attracted millions of views.
As of recently, Ziegler has come off a starring role in Steven Spielberg’s rendition of West Side Story. Ziegler’s role as Velma in the production marks her biggest Hollywood appearance in the entertainment industry. In addition to her performance in West Side Story, Ziegler also made a breakthrough in the film industry with her role alongside Jenna Ortega in The Fallout directed by Megan Park. The Fallout is a defining film for Gen-Z that highlights the emotional trauma high school students navigate following a tragic shooting. Ziegler did not take this role or topic lightly, understanding the grief that can come along with the film. In an interview with NYLON she states, “I want people to take away the importance of knowing that it’s okay to not be alone and it’s okay to heal in your own time.”
Ziegler is also making a name for herself off screen, immersing herself into the beauty and fashion industry. From her own fragrance line with Kate Spade New York, to creating her own makeup collection with Morphe, Ziegler has shown her personal talent in this sector. Furthermore, she has established herself as an icon in the fashion industry. From modeling athletic wear for Fabletics to posing with glamorous pieces for Fendi, Ziegler can do it all. Even Vogue has featured Ziegler on their YouTube channel, highlighting her makeup routine, hair transformation and a day in the life with her.
So what’s coming up for Ziegler in the future? From an exclusive interview with Cosmopolitan, Ziegler states, “Acting is taking over my world. I love it so much.” Fans can expect to see her in a coming-of-age “traumedy” titled Bloody Hell, which will be Ziegler’s first film as the lead. Only being 20 years old, Maddie Ziegler still has endless possibilities at her fingertips to continue pursuing her dreams.
