"The Favors" and "The Dream"

The artists FINNEAS and Ashe both stand out on their own. Individually, they have achieved success through their solo pop careers, with FINNEAS producing and co-writing alongside his sister, Billie Eilish. The two stars have collaborated before, once for Ashe’s 2019 hit “Moral of the Story” and again in 2021 for “Till Forever Falls Apart.” With the recognition these songs brought to both artists, it’s no surprise that the pair has reunited.

On June 2, they wrote, “We made a band. It’s called The Favors.” The simple message posted to Instagram received thousands of comments from excited fans, now aware that FINNEAS and Ashe had been secretly writing and recording “The Dream” for months. 

When Ashe texted FINNEAS about starting a band almost two years ago, he jumped on board, excited to sing and write for himself, but in a super collaborative process, this was revealed in a Zane Lowe Interview. The band, consisting of FINNEAS, Ashe, David Marinelli and Ricky Gourmet, announced that their album would be released on September 19. Over the summer, “The Favors” dropped multiple songs early, including “The Little Mess You Made,” “The Hudson” and “Times Square Jesus.” 

Now that the album has been released, the band has performed live at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and on “The Tonight Show” just a few nights ago.

“The Dream” features a wide variety of songs with no musical constraints, including upbeat pop and slower ballads. FINNEAS said on the Zane Lowe show that his friendship with Ashe has a lot to do with a kind of mutual curiosity, leading to their constant genre exploration throughout the album.

The long-lasting friendship between the two band leads, the inclusion of charming ad-libbed moments and accidental instrument mishaps into songs like “David’s Brother” and “The Dream,” gives the listeners insight into the band members' close relationships with one another. 

With the success “The Favors” have had with their first album, “The Dream,” it will be interesting to see what the band has in store for the future. Now, the only thing left to do is go and listen to their album!
